OS X can read a NTFS drive and copy data on it to your iMac but it cannot write to NTFS. If the drive is going to be only used with a Mac then it needs to be reformatted in Mac OS Extended )Journaled). I purchased a Seagate backup plus slim 2TB to make some space for my macbook running macos 10.13.3. This hard drive is in NTFS for windows and so I downloaded the Paragaon NTFS for mac driver (version 15) to get read-write access for my mac using this hard drive. Seagate Ntfs Mac
I have a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex drive and recently it stopped mounting on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2012), currently running El Capitan Beta 5. It refuses to show up in Finder or Disk Utility, but the drive itself lights up like it is connected. I have another drive that I use for Time Machine, which shows up just fine.
It works, however, on Windows PCs and OS X Yosemite latest version. I plan to submit a bug on this but I thought I'd get some community help on this issue as well, to see if there is anything else I can do to make it work.
Thanks!
I installed NTFS for Mac 15 on a MacBook Air (13 inch, 2017) running Mac OSX High Sierra (10.3.2). When I do System Preferences, NTFS for Mac, I immediately get a window that says 'Paragon NTFS for Mac 15 system extensioons is blocked! (I attach a screen snapshot). I try the Allow button in System Preferences, Security & Privacy, General tab, but that does not cure the problem. The external hard drive that I wish to use is a Seagate Free Agent GoGlex 500 GB drive, but the problem that I describe above occurs without even attaching the drive to the USB port.
